A little history
E Equinox is built on E natural minor with the fourth note, A, left out. That leaves six different notes (E, F#, G, B, C, D) and a quiet, open minor sound. Kirstein lists the nine fields as E3 G3 B3 C4 D4 E4 F#4 G4 B4, and says Sela makes it with nine fields while Schlagwerk makes its E Equinox with eight.
How to read a chord card
- The darker colour is the root; the lighter colour, the other chord tones.
- The line under the pan names the notes, root first, with their field numbers.
