A little history
D Kurd 9 is the plain D minor Kurd layout: a D ding with eight notes around it, A Bb C D E F G A. Saraz Handpans lists this exact set for D minor and says the name comes from Arabic music, short for Kurd Maqam. It also says Victor Levinson, who builds the SPB, first popularised the scale on handpans, and that viral videos spread D minor pans further.
