F Magic Voyage 8 handpan chords
Magic Voyage is a small minor scale over an F ding. It has no 4th and no 6th, so start with the i and v cards: play each card's lit notes, then move to the next. The app has 11 chord cards for this scale. New to handpan? Read Handpan 101: how to play a handpan first.
A little history
F Magic Voyage has eight notes: the F ding, then Ab C Eb F G Ab C around the top. Only F, Ab, C, Eb and G are used. That is a minor pentatonic shape with a major 2nd (G) added. G and Ab sit a half step apart, which gives the scale its bite. We could not source a maker or a date for this layout from a public page we could link, so this page does not give one.
How to read a chord card
- The darker colour is the root; the lighter colour, the other chord tones.
- The line under the pan names the notes, root first, with their field numbers.
